Watch: Too Close for Comfort

It seems Mountain Lion encounters are on the rise this fall. 

Rachel Mahan and her father Verlyn were archery hunting elk in Colorado last week and had a very close encounter with a curious lion. Rachel and her father had set out a cow elk decoy and were completing a series of calls when Rachel noticed movement to her right. As Rachel reached for her cell phone to video the encounter, the lion approached the decoy. Verlyn can be seen in the video to the left. While it's difficult to judge distance in a video, the cat was only 10 feet from Verlyn as it passed by. Rachel noted that she could see her father using his cell phone to video the cat as well, but as luck would have it, Verlyn forgot to press the record button. We don't blame you Verlyn, that cat was too close for comfort.
