What does Kryptek Mean?

The name Kryptek is a combination of two Greek words: Kryptos, meaning "hidden" and Technos, meaning "technologies." Simply put, Kryptek's purpose is reiterated in its name: hidden technologies.

Does Kryptek do a military discount?

Yes, Kryptek offers discounts to active duty military members and veterans. Kryptek also extends discount programs to Government employees, law enforcement and first responders, outdoor industry professionals, guides and outfitters and professional athletes.

Who uses Kryptek Camo?

The Kryptek family of camouflage has been rigorously tested by the U.S. Department of Defense with Highlander, Mandrake, Nomad, and Wraith being selectively used by both U.S. and Coalition Special Operation Units as well as Law Enforcement units and SWAT teams around the US.

What is Kryptek Camo?

After multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Kryptek's founders agreed: the most effective passive concealment measure on the battlefield was camouflage netting. First used in combat during World War II, netting technology ultimately became the inspiration for the Kryptek family of camouflage patterns.

Founders:

Kryptek was started by combat veterans Butch Whiting and Josh Cleghorn. Conceptualized in the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, a new approach to camouflage and outdoor apparel was born.

CW3. Josh Cleghorn began his military career as a Navy Deep Sea Diver stationed at SDV Team 2. After six years involved with Navy Special Warfare and Special Operations, Josh Joined the army where he and Butch Whiting were Apache Helicopter Pilots together. After his Iraq deployment, he was assessed and selected to the U.S. Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). These aviators are highly trained and skilled pilots operating exclusively in classified missions. Josh piloted the well known MH/AH-6M Little Bird. Josh’s time spent in both Naval and Army special warfare units garnered him the opportunity to make lasting friendships with some our nations top tier-1 operators. Many of them have since become members of Kryptek’s ProStaff.

MAJ. Butch Whiting is co-founder and CEO of Kryptek Outdoor Group. Butch has an impressive military history that includes numerous awards and deployments. Butch piloted the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter ands served combat duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. During his military career, Maj. Butch Whiting has received two Bronze Stars, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Air Medal, five Army Commendation Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Support Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Air Assault Badge, Airborne Badge, Senior Aviation Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. Butch is also a passionate hunter and has pursued big game on multiple continents.
